Handling Specialty's experience in the aerospace industry was put to good use in the design and manufacture of a custom personnel lift for the interior assembly of the Delta III rocket which was used to launch satellites into space. The multi-stage lift has large structural requirements as well as strict stability constraints. Manufactured for McDonnell Douglas, the lift has an open-grate 144" diameter work platform and vertical travel of 180". Hydraulically actuated, the lift played an important role in the rocket's assembly. |
