Second Contract Awarded for Custom Lift Platforms for F-35 Joint Strike Fighters Wing Assembly

(Grimsby, ON  August 26, 2005)   Handling Specialty has been awarded a second prime contract with Lockheed Martin to design, build and install 6 wing assembly stations for Phase II of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft program. Just over 2 years ago, Lockheed Martin had selected Handling Specialty to manufacture the first series of custom lift platforms for the F-35 program.

The wing assembly stations are lift platforms utilizing four post, screw driven actuation and feature a customized central opening for material which allow personnel access to the product from all sides and at all elevations. Due to the mechanical nature of this design, the platforms operate at a smooth, synchronized and level motion throughout the range of travel with secure load holding at any elevation.

A niche supplier of custom lifting equipment, Handling Specialty provides engineered-to-order lift solutions to many prominent companies in the automotive, aerospace, entertainment, metals, and rail industries.  Incorporated in 1963, Handling Specialty Manufacturing Ltd. is a privately-owned company headquartered in Grimsby, Ontario.  A second manufacturing facility, Handling Specialty Inc., is located in Niagara Falls, NY.  Quality accreditations include ISO 9001:94 and QS-9000: TE Supplement.
